피아니스트 이기정은 예원학교, 서울예술고등학교, 서울대학교 음악대학 졸업 후 도미, Northwestern University (Evanston, Illinois)에서 피아노 연주학 석사 및 박사학위를 취득하였다. 서울대학교 재학 시절 고 오정주 교수 추모장학금을, Northwestern University 재학 시절 성적우수 장학금과 TA 장학금을 수여 받았다.

미국 시카고 WNIB 방송콩쿠르, New York Debut Artists International 콩쿠르, Northwestern 대학 콘첼토 콩쿠르, Boston 대학 콘첼토 콩쿠르, 제 4회 국제피아노두오협회콩쿠르, 제 5회 Tokyo International Piano Duo Competition 등에서 우승하였으며, 시카고한인교향악단, 시카고체임버, 서울시립교향악단, 노스웨스턴대 교향악단, 보스턴대 교향악단, 싱가포르 Braddel Heights Symphony Orchestra, 한국심포니, 한미교향악단, 광진교향악단, 서울체임버오케스트라, 세종챔버앙상블, 세종대학교 오케스트라, 부산내셔널심포니오케스트라 등과 협연하였다.

KBS TV '문화가 산책,' 한국페스티발 앙상블, Pan Music Festival, 한국피아노학회 한국피아노두오협회 정기 및 특별연주회, 그랜드피아노콘서트, 예술의전당 여름실내악, 고 백낙호 교수 추모음악회, Ensemble Stentor 'le Salon de musique,' 해설이 있는 청소년을 위한 음악회 '이럴때 이런 음악,' 노스웨스턴 음악대학 동문음악회, 밀알음악회, 세라믹팔레스 교수음악회 등의 무대에서 연주했으며 MBC 여름음악캠프, 제주신문, 서울경제신문, 관동대 피아노캠프, 한국피아노학회 집중연구시리즈, AIPAF, J&R 뮤직아카데미 등 다양한 마스터클래스 및 세미나 강사, ASIA International Music Competition(동경), ICA International Piano Competition & Festival(하노이) 심사위원으로도 활약하고 있다.

미국 뉴욕 (Carnegie Weil Hall), 시카고 (Steinway Hall, North Park College), 보스턴 (Harvard Paine Hall, M.I.T. Recital Hall), 샌프란시스코 (San Francisco State University), 오레곤 (American Liszt Society Festival), Guam (University of Guam) 및 캐나다 (Orford Music Festival), 일본 (Santory Hall, Tsunohazu Hall), 뉴질랜드 (Auckland University), 싱가포르 (Victoria Hall), 이태리 (Lanciano Music Festival), 프랑스 (Conservatoire de Musique Olivier Messiaen), 베트남(Vietnam National Academy of Music, International College of Atys) 등지에서 독주 및 협연자로 활동하고 있다.

현재 세종대학교 음악과 교수로 재직하며 서초국제예술단 단장, ICA International Piano Competition & Festival (Hanoi, Vietnam) 조직위원장, New York Musicians' Club in Seoul  음악감독, 더존앙상블 멤버, 괌대학 상주음악가로 활동하고 있다.

A native of Korea, Dr. Kichoung Lee has graduated from Yewon School and Seoul Arts High School, Seoul National University (Korea), and continued her studies and obtained her doctoral degree in Piano Performance at Northwestern University (Illinois, U.S.A) under the guidance of Dr. David Kaiserman. She also studied collaborative piano at Boston University.

Dr. Lee has been the prize winner of Chicago WNIB Competition, New York Debut Artists International Competition, Northwestern University Concerto Competition, Boston University Concerto Competiton, International Piano Duo Association Competition, and Tokyo International Piano Duo Competition. She has performed with major orchestras including Chicago Korean Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Chamber Orchestra, Braddel Heights Symphony Orchestra (Singapore), Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Korean-American Symphony Orchestra, Kwangjin Symphony Orchestra, Sejong Chamber Ensemble, and Sejong University Symphony Orchestra , Busan National Symphony Orchestra, etc.

Dr. Lee has been featured as a soloist at numerous concerts in New York (Carnegie Weil Hall), Chicago (Steinway Hall, North Park College), Boston (Harvard Paine Hall, M.I.T.Recital Hall), San Francisco (San Francisco State University), Oregon (American Liszt Society Festival), Guam (University of Guam) in the U.S.A., Canada (Orford Music Festival), Japan (Santory Hall, Tsunohazu Hall), New Zealand (University of Auckland), Singapore (Victoria Hall), Italy (Lanciano Music Festival), France (Conservatoire de Musique Olivier Messaen), and the major cities in Korea.

She has been invited as a judge for the ASIA International Music Competition(Tokyo, Japan), ICA International Piano Competition & Festival(Hanoi, Vietnam).

Dr. Lee is currently a professor of the Music Department at Sejong University (Seoul, Korea), and in charge of  the chairperson of Seocho International Music Society and the chairman of the Organizing Committee of the ICA International Piano Competition & Festival (Hanoi, Vietnam).  member of the DUZON Ensemble, and an Artist in Residence (University of Guam)
